WELCOME TO THE
MALHOTRA LAB
Mission Statement
Vascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. The passions that drive our laboratory are three-fold: (1) To identify novel genes and epigenetic processes that increase the risk for human vascular disease. (2) To elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms of vascular disease. (3) To develop new treatments for human vascular disease. In this way, our laboratory has developed a pipeline for biological discovery and therapeutic development to improve the lives of our patients.

Leducq Foundation
We are honored and excited to share that the Leducq Foundation has funded our network: COMET - Calcification-Omics, Molecular Elucidation, & Therapeutics. What a wonderful team of scientists to work alongside including Dr. Catherine Shanahan (King's College London), Dr. Clint Miller (University of Virginia), Dr. Yabing Chen (Oregon Health & Science University), Dr. Melinda Duer (University of Cambridge), Dr. Rafael Kramann (RWTH Aachen University), and Dr. Maryam Kavousi (University Medical Center Rotterdam). This ambitious interdisciplinary and multi-faceted project requires the expertise of cardiologists, nephrologists, vascular surgeons, biotechnologists, biologists, and chemists to develop novel targeted therapies for patients suffering from vascular calcification.
